Founded by Carly Jane Lee, the Seattle Miscarriage Center is engaging in dialogue at the intersection of theological and psychological perspectives of miscarriage.

Upon graduating with a Master of Arts in Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary Northwest in June 2018, Carly launched her Miscarriage project consisting of academic qualitative research, conference presentations, and the creation of the Miscarriage Healing Retreat 2019.  She is an academic member of the American Academy of Religion and has presented papers at the PNW regional conference in both 2018 and 2019.  Carly has co-authored a blog series for the Institute of Collective Trauma and Grief, guest lectured at The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology, while currently is co-chair for Women and Religion at PNW AAR, Executive Treasurer of Shorenorth Co-op, and a proud donor to Northwest Mother's Milk Bank.

Current Needs

Procurement

Help us ask businesses to donate for our cause.  We are in need of specific materials for the retreat and, in order to keep costs low, having them donated is the way to go.

Materials Needed

  • Small Day Retreat Notebooks
  • Pens
  • Smooth symmetrical river rocks
  • Tea light candles
  • Gallon zip lock bags
  • Epson salt
  • Dried herbs: lavender, lemon verbena, ginger, cinnamon, cloves

Scholarship Fund

We don't want the cost of the retreat to prevent anyone from attending.  With the help of generous donors such as yourself, the cost of the retreat doesn't have to be a roadblock.  100% of your donation goes directly to someone's admittance ticket.  No donation is too small.  Let's make this event affordable for all.

Facing Our Health:  a 3-part ritual series on ageing, disease and our lineage

By Heather Stringer

This is a 3 part series (Sept, October and December) on facing our health. We’ll first remember our generational history, both the curses and sorrows. We'll engage what has been passed down to us and then release what is no longer ours to carry through creative acts and witness.

In October we’ll face our fears and anxieties around disease and death. We'll create personalized and group movements and words enabling us to be less afraid and more courageous as we confront the things that haunt us.

Lastly, in December, we’ll move through the time releasing ourselves from a health-obsessed culture and into embracing and honoring the health we have through music and blessing.

I hope to see you there!
